01. Do US residents (non US citizens) need the Norway visa to travel to Norway?

Most non US citizens need the Norway (Schengen) visa. You can verify if you need the visa in the list of Nationalities who need Norway visa. Non US citizens residing in the US need to show the resident status (Green card, valid US visa and copy of valid I-20 or valid I-AP66, visas…) to apply for a short term Norway visa in the US. The visa and the US resident status must be valid for at least 3 months after the last day of stay in the Norway.

02. Do US citizens need a Visa for a long term stay in Norway (Schengen Region)?

Applicants who wish to stay in Norway beyond 90 days must apply for a national visa or residence permit. The applicant needs to buy Norway visa insurance offering coverage of 30,000 Euros travel insurance for long term Europe visa as mandated by the Norway Consulate. You can get more information about the residence permit on the Norway embassy/consulate's website.
While applying for Schengen visa, you need to give enough time for its processing, especially during the peak travel summer and winter season.
