The amount that Student Health Advantage student medical insurance pays for covid19 expenses depends on the plan option you choose (Standard or Platinum), the provider network you use (UnitedHealthcare or outside), and the policy maximum and deductible you select. Generally, the plan pays as follows:

  • For Standard option, the plan pays 90% of eligible medical expenses up to $1K then 100% thereafter within the UnitedHealthcare network in the US; outside the network in the US, the plan pays 80% of eligible medical expenses up to the policy maximum. The policy maximum is $500K per policy period and the deductible is $100 per injury or illness.
  • For Platinum option, the plan pays 100% of eligible medical expenses within the United Healthcare network in the US; outside the network in the US, the plan pays 90% of eligible medical expenses up to $5K then 100% thereafter. The policy maximum is $1M per policy period and the deductible is $25 per injury or illness
