Important Things to Know Before Buying Atlas International Premium

1 Pre-certification is required for full benefits
You must contact WorldTrips before planned hospitalization or significant treatment. Failure to pre-certify reduces your reimbursable benefits by 50%. In a genuine emergency, notify WorldTrips as soon as reasonably possible.
2 No PPO network outside the USA - you may need to pay upfront
There is no preferred provider network outside the United States. You can visit any licensed provider abroad, but you will typically need to pay out of pocket first and then submit itemized bills to WorldTrips for reimbursement. Always keep all receipts and medical documents.
3 No trip cancellation coverage
Atlas International Premium does not reimburse pre-paid trip costs if you cancel before your departure. It does include a Trip Interruption benefit up to $15,000 if your trip is cut short after it begins due to a covered reason. If you need trip cancellation coverage, consider a comprehensive trip protection plan.
4 Cannot be purchased from certain locations
This plan cannot be purchased if you are physically located in New York, Maryland, Washington, Iran, Canada, or Australia at the time of purchase. Travel to Iran is also not eligible for coverage.
5 Acute onset of pre-existing conditions covered up to age 79
Atlas International Premium covers sudden and unexpected medical emergencies caused by a pre-existing condition - for travelers under age 80. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of onset. This is broader age coverage than most competing plans. Note: chronic, ongoing, or gradually worsening conditions are not covered under this benefit.
6 Renew before your plan expires - not after
Coverage can be renewed online through the WorldTrips member portal, but only before your current plan end date. You cannot renew an expired policy. Total coverage including all renewals cannot exceed 364 days.
7 COVID-19 is covered like any other illness
Medical treatment for COVID-19 including hospitalization and doctor visits is covered as a standard illness, subject to your deductible. The plan also includes a quarantine indemnity of $50/day for up to 10 days if you are quarantined outside your home country by a physician or government authority due to a positive COVID-19 test.
8 Emergency reunion and return of minor children are included
If you are hospitalized abroad, the plan covers a family member's travel costs to be at your bedside up to $150,000. If you are unable to care for your children while hospitalized, the plan covers their return home up to $50,000. Both benefits are not subject to the deductible or coinsurance.
9 Your documents are available immediately after purchase
Your insurance certificate, photo ID card, and Schengen visa letter (if applicable) are emailed instantly after purchase. You can also access and reprint them anytime through the WorldTrips member portal at no extra charge.

WHY ATLAS STANDS OUT

What Sets Atlas Premium International Apart

Atlas Premium International Insurance combines high coverage limits, flexible plan options, and dependable worldwide medical protection, making it a strong alternative to standard travel medical insurance plans.

Differentiator Why it matters
A++ AM Best rating Most travel insurers carry an A or A− rating. WorldTrips holds an A++ (Superior) from AM Best and AA− from S&P the highest tier - meaning claims are more reliably paid, even in large-loss scenarios.
$2,000,000 maximum coverage Most competing plans cap at $1,000,000. For long-term travelers or trips to countries with high medical costs (USA, Switzerland, Japan), the extra ceiling matters significantly.
Vacation sports included, no extra rider Skiing, hiking, snorkeling, and other popular vacation activities are covered as standard. Many plans exclude sports injuries or charge extra for an adventure sports rider.
100% coinsurance within PPO network After the deductible, Atlas Premium pays 100% of eligible expenses. Many competing plans still charge 20% coinsurance even within their networks.
Acute onset Pre-existing coverage up to age 79 years Broader age coverage than many competitors (e.g., Patriot International Lite stops at age 70). Travelers aged 70–79 are covered up to the overall maximum or $100,000, whichever is lower.
Pregnancy complications covered Complications of pregnancy in the first 26 weeks of gestation are covered. Most travel medical plans exclude all pregnancy-related claims.
Hospital indemnity benefit $100 per inpatient day, not subject to deductible or coinsurance. Offsets incidental costs like meals, transport, and communication that aren't reimbursed by standard medical benefits.
Schengen visa letter (including French) The plan fully meets Schengen visa insurance requirements and provides the required visa letter. French-language letters are available for consulates requiring them.
