01. My grand father is coming to the US next week to undergo some medical tests ? Will visitor insurance cover the expenses for this?

Visitor insurance does not cover preventive care, in other words planned medical tests will not be covered.

02. My parents are visiting the United States. If a health emergency arises suddenly because of a pre-existing condition and they need health care, will these medi cal costs be covered under visitor medical insurance?

Some of the visitor insurance plans that do cover pre-existing conditions so do so for acute onset of existing conditions and have very specific limitations for their coverage. Please review the policy brochure for more details. The policy brochures can be accessed through our pre-existing coverage visitor insurance comparison tool.

03. My mother is 77 years old and has high BP. Can you suggest me a plan that covers pre existing condition at this age?

Patriot Platinum America Insurance

04. My relative was suffering from kidney dialysis. She has already got her the required treatment in India. However we would like to get a medical check up done for her in the US. Will the medical tests be covered under pre-existing conditions?

No, visitor insurance even those with pre-existing condition coverage does not cover preventive care, in other words planned medical tests will not be covered.

05. My visitor requires regular checks for his/her condition. Will this be covered? Can it be covered?

No. Unfortunately, these sorts of things cannot be covered by short term medical policies. The best thing you can do is find out some places ahead of their visit that will do the necessary treatment and tell them the situation. Usually, providers will reduce the price for persons without insurance (of which, sadly, there are many).

06. My spouse and I are thinking about having a baby, can I get insurance to cover the birth and child?

Planning for the birth of a child should be a happy, carefree time. However, it is always good to plan ahead in terms of insurance. We offer many global or international health insurance policies that will cover delivery of a child and which you can add the child to after birth to cover its medical expenses and routine checkups. These policies have a 10 to 12 month waiting period for such coverage, so it is a good idea to plan ahead.

Once you are on one of these policies, coverage is guaranteed year after year regardless of any change in health status. For some, you must purchase a special "maternity" policy for additional cost, while others cover it at a set limit without additional cost. For details of these plans, please browse options here.

07. In case of emergency, any hospital is Ok or do we have to use one from a list of providers?

Our plans allow you to use any hospital doctor.

08. While my visitor is with me, I would like to take him/her to a doctor to check his condition. Will that be covered? Can it be covered? I will pay extra to have this covered.

All plans we sell for short term coverage are for sudden illness and accident only. Elective check ups and wellness visits are not covered, not even for additional cost. The only thing you can do to get your visitor a check up is to do some calling around and see what the physician you'd like them to see will charge you.

Tell them it is a visitor and they do not have insurance to cover it. They will usually reduce the price for you. Be sure you ask about all costs including lab work, etc. since nowadays many offices send these out for analysis and you will be billed from a separate provider for those fees.
