  • The insured's home country must be the United States (U.S.).
  • Must be traveling outside the U.S. or traveling away from their home within the U.S. and scheduled to spend at least 24 hours away from home. or children under the age of 6, they must be enrolled with a parent.
  • The insurance must be purchased in the home country prior to departing on the trip.
  • Certain plans have age limits, usually under 71 for the Economy plan, and other age limits depending on the specific plan.
  • The plan is available to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and legal U.S. residents.
  • Pre-existing condition coverage is available if the policy is purchased within a certain time frame from the initial trip deposit (14 days for Classic, 21 days for Preferred).
  • Coverage includes adults and children if enrolled properly, but very young children need parental enrollment.

7. Can I buy a TripProtector plan after I've started my trip?

No. Policies must be purchased while in the United States, before departure. Buying after leaving the U.S. is not permitted.

8. Do I need existing health insurance to be eligible?

No. Trip Protector plans do not require you to have primary health insurance to qualify for coverage.
